Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake and is the second part of the trilogy Final Fantasy VII remake project published in 1997. It is released on 28 Feb, 2024 on PlayStation 5. The setting of FFVII Rebirth becomes bigger than FFVII Remake: The story is not limited to Midgar's dystopian metropolis but expands across the Planet. The story covers the original Final Fantasy VII events and includes the Forgotten Capital, but the order of the events doesn't change. FF 7 Rebirth has received many positive comments. It got 93% positive reviews on Metacritic, the second over 90 scores of all Final Fantasy games.
Like FFVII Remake, the gameplay of FF 7 Rebirth combines real-time action with strategic and role-playing elements. Its story set is immediately after FFVII Remake's events, the party escapes from the metropolis of Midgarplayers, and players control mercenary Cloud Strife and a party of characters, who embark on a journey across the Planet to prevent the megacorporation Shinra from exploiting its life essence, the Lifestream, as an energy source, and defeat former elite SOLDIER Sephiroth, who seeks to unite with the Planet to achieve greater power. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features real-time exploration and combat, and have a more open-ended world than the former edition.
